It’s still early but I think this site could really be something. Upon my initial gander, Red Room is really clean-looking and feeling, a bit library-ish, a bit pretentious, but that’s good because serious writers are going to be a part of some teeny-bopper social networking site. But is it–as it says–where the writers are? Some of them. I like how she (or whomever reps her) says that her three top influences are:

Animal tales told by parents and grandparents,
stories of human predicaments told me by my mother,
cautionary tales told by everyone in the community.

That does sound very Alice Walker. They also have a section of collected YouTube videos of authors like Salman Rushdie reading from the Satanic Verses on PBS.

P.S. Does anyone think Nikki Taylor looks yucky on Make Me a Supermodel. Err…
