OK, here’s my review of Rick Moody’s Right Livelihoods. I wanted to read his latest because of this PEN event: An Evening on Music with Sufjan Stevens and Moody. I’ve also been listening to Sufjan’s Christmas albums. Getting in the spirit here!

Moody really got bashed when he won that big fellowship a few years back (was it worth the PR, Mr. Moody?) — bad life decisions notwithstanding, I really liked The Ice Storm. Your review of his novellas has convinced me to read it — if Moody can get a better publicist (is he channeling James Frey, perhaps?), he may rise again to one of the better contemporary authors in America.
