From the warmed hearth of the reading nook comes a bit about the lit journal with the best name ever: Failbetter.com. I can’t wait for the spring issue (did they dispense with winter this time around?) because more than this screwy Daylight Savings Time shift, that will signal the true beginning of the next season. So forget the groundhog, everyone! Go forth and publish — I need some new online reading material! But will it’s still up, definitely take a gander at Andrew Roe’s stirring, nostalgic story about the denouement of a marriage in Mexico. Some of the best use of foreshadowing since sophomore year. Also recommended Beautiful and Amazing by Suzanne Abbot for its elliptical, highly metaphorical history of a man and his insatiable “appetite.” It’s bizarre and enigmatic and that’s why we like it.

I just finished a writing workshop with the dude that started failbetter. It was fresh.
